Who Will God Use?

Have you ever felt like God would never be able to use you for something good because of your past, because of something you’ve done?  Well, my friend, consider this.

Matthew Chapter 1 lists the genealogy of Jesus.  While this may seem like a boring read, I want you to see something important…very important.

Besides the chosen and beloved Mary, simple young girl chosen by God to carry this very special baby, we see some other very significant women mentioned, women whom we would probably NOT consider worthy to be included in this special blood line leading to the birth of the Savior of the World.  Let’s read and see…

  • Tamar, violated, spoiled, disgraced by her half-brother, hated by him afterward, found pregnant because of it!
  • Rahab, prostitute!
  • Ruth, a Moabite
  • Bathsheba (who had been Uriah’s wife), object of David’s lust.

I find great comfort and encouragement in the fact that God used simple, ordinary women in this special line-up of those who would be included in the genealogy of Jesus, my Savior and King!!  If God can use them and their names be listed in His word for all the world to see, then I know He can certainly use YOU and ME for His purposes TODAY!!  So be encouraged my friend and live your life for Jesus!  He will do something great; you can count on it!
