I’ve heard it said that marriage is not so much about finding the right person but being the right person. I found this statement quite thought-provoking.
I’ve also heard it said that marriage is not a 50-50 relationship but instead 100-100, one in which each partner is giving 100% effort.
God ordained marriage, and God created relationships, and I do believe that God wants us to give 100% to everything we do.
I also love the statement that says if you want to have a friend, be a friend. Kind of like what we call “The Golden Rule” to do unto others what we would have them do unto us. We must give of ourselves in a friendship in order to receive friendship in return.
We need to always be humble. We must be willing to quickly forgive, and we must be content with our position, even when we are in second place.
So, what can we conclude? To me, I believe it is so important to put our best foot forward in everything we do, to give 100% effort to whatever task we set our hand to, and especially in our relationships we should love, accept, encourage and strengthen the other person. We should always practice humility and love others as we would like them to love us. To me that is giving our 100%.
Here’s what God’s word has to say in Colossians 3:12-14:
“So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.” ~ Colossians 3:12-14
