Just like Jesus would retreat to a quiet place and spend time in prayer with the Father, we can do the same. Luke 5:16 NIV says, “But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.”

I was reading a post from A Miracle Every Day, an app I have on my phone, and the writer was talking about how when we read God‘s word and spend time in prayer, it’s like “calling home.”

When we’ve been away and call home, hearing familiar voices is comforting and reassuring and we look forward to our return. 

Opening our Bibles and reading the Word, and spending time in prayer with God the Father, offering up praise and thanksgiving for all that Jesus did for us on the cross, thanking God for providing for our every need, we are actually “calling home.” This is because, when we know Jesus, Heaven is our eternal home, and one day we will be there with Him forever!
