His father saw him…

But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. ~ Luke 15:20

Reading this passage of scripture during my morning devotions today, I once again was struck by the wonderful thought of how this father loved his son and the fact that he was watching for his son to return home.

I found a video on YouVersion that depicts this reunion and it is beautiful. You can watch this video here:

This father shows how Father God loves and accepts us, no matter what we may have done in our life, whenever we come back to Him, repent of the wrong we have done and accept His loving forgiveness. As we turn away from our mistakes and wrongdoings, our Father accepts us, and He has been waiting all along for us to come back to Him. He is watching for us, and He rejoices when He sees us coming back to Him!

If you have done some things you are not proud of, maybe even feeling great shame for them, God is still ready and willing to forgive you and welcome you back into His kingdom. As the words in the hymn many of us have sung in church says, “Jesus paid it all; all to Him I owe. Sin had left a crimson stain; He washed it white as snow”

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. ~ Romans 5:8 NIV

Perhaps you are not “returning” to God but ready to turn to Him for the first time. That is so amazing for you! You will never regret this decision, never, ever, ever!!

Jesus truly did pay the penalty for the sins of all the world, yours and mine included! We only need to accept what He did, recognize Him as our Savior and Lord, and commit to follow Him all the remaining days of our life. Then when we leave this world, and we all will one day, we will join Him in Heaven to live there for all eternity. Heaven is perfect: no evil, no sickness, no poverty, no shame, only good and wonderful things planned and prepared for each of us by our loving and gracious Heavenly Father!
